Operations Manager Job Vacancy In Portland, Oregon Metropolitan Area, USA
Blue Door Veterinary Services has an opening for an Operations Manger to help us grow our woman-owned mobile veterinary business in Portland, Oregon. We are looking for someone who is entrepreneurial, excited about developing systems and protocols, loves problem solving, who is proactive and can work independently. Since we are growing and developing this role to fill a need, you have the opportunity to essentially write your own job description. Help us define this new role in our organization and help our company grow. The position is intended to be a mixture of in clinic and work-from-home. A good candidate will be an adaptable communicator – able to adapt to the team and individuals’ needs for different types of communication (email, text, phone etc – and how to motivate employees individually to help each of our team members grow within our team). You’ll be the “second in command” so must have a strong work ethic and managerial skills. Experience in veterinary medicine is not required.
Areas of responsibility will include (but are not limited to):
Clinic Operations – appointment scheduling, client interactions/conflict resolution, inventory management, vendor management
HR – employee management including scheduling, hiring/ firing, and employee retention/motivation programs
Marketing/PR – updating website, social media, and blog posts
Project management – working on various projects that relate to the maintenance, growth and development of the business and staff members (ie looking into cost savings protocols, new staff benefits, researching problems/ projects/ creating strategic plans for growth, etc.)
Financial management – creating and reading reports, liaising between CPA, bookkeeper, and owner, and helping to create and stick to an operating budget
We’re not your standard vet clinic- we are breaking industry norms and working to create a stable, small business atmosphere even as we grow. As more veterinary clinics are moving to corporate style medicine, we want clients to feel like we’re their family vet even as we grow to be able to serve more clients and pets. At Blue Door, we are always looking for new ways to do things – not just sticking to the status quo. We are a strictly mobile veterinary practice serving the greater Portland, OR metropolitan area. Our clientele is made up of pet owners who are dedicated to their pets and want to be involved in their pets’ care. We pride ourselves as a clinic in being transparent and complete with regards to all options for our patients and working as a team with our clients for the best outcome for their animals. Currently, we have two mobile clinics with intention to grow to at least 3 vans in the Portland area and possibly extending to other locales as we grow.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher (Masters or higher preferred)
Management experience > 1 year
Operations experience > 1 year
Experience with Quick Books Online a plus
COVID-19 vaccinations required
Salary range $55,000-$65,000 annually commensurate with experience. Benefits negotiable.
